When cooking your own meals, it’s important to have the proper tools at your disposal in the kitchen, so that meal preps go according to plan! Not all kitchen gadgets, though, are good investments. Don’t be fooled into thinking that some of them are, because they will most likely just gather dust on a shelf. To make good use of your kitchen and everything else in it, here is our go-to list for kitchen gadgets. If you want good value for your kitchen, then this hack is definitely for you.
- Pressure cookers (similar to an Instant Pot) are most certainly a need for every kitchen out there. A pressure cooker is very practical because it can cook a meal faster than an ordinary slow cooker. There’s no excuse not to go for a home-cooked meal even on busy nights because the pressure cooker gets the job done.
- Air fryers are small, concentrated ovens that produce crisp skin-on fries, meats, veggies, and more without the oil of frying food. It offers a healthier way to prep foods, and in less time than it normally takes.
- No kitchen is complete without a blender. If the big and bulky blenders are not appealing to you, there are smaller ones like Ninja or Nutribullet, or even immersion blenders. These blenders are smaller and easier to manage and can make individual portions, too.
- Waffle irons do a great job of making waffles, but they can do a lot more than just that. You can cook hash browns, omelets, grilled cheese, and even cookies in a waffle iron. A waffle iron is a great multi-purpose tool you’ll use often!
- A wok is a sauté pan that has a rounded bottom and smooth sides. A quality wok is needed if you want to make stir-fry, sauces, soups, etc. Yeah, you can get by with a few pots and pans, but a wok is a perfect piece. Their long handles let you hold it over a burner and shake and stir the food inside, heating the ingredients quickly and evenly. It requires practice to use a wok; but, once you’ve got it down, it will be very useful to you.
- If avocados are your thing, then you need an avocado slicer for your kitchen. Avocados can get quite slippery. Hence, when opening and slicing them with knives, be very careful. An avocado slicer is the safer way not only to open an avocado but to remove the pit and shell and create perfect-sized slices, too.
- A can opener is another basic need for every kitchen, especially if you’re the type to always rely on canned food in your cooking. Get one that is of good quality and at a decent price; the more affordable can openers don’t necessarily give you the best results for value. They will easily break or fail when you least expect them to. Hence, get a good one that will last you years.
- Another essential addition to your kitchen would be a swivel peeler. Cooking with potatoes, squash, carrots, or other vegetables will be so much easier with one around. Slice through that vegetable’s thick outer skin with convenience and comfort with a quality peeler in your hand. What a swivel peeler does is it automatically adjusts to the angle of your hand while you peel so that every stroke ensures a clean and efficient peel.
